Signs for St. Davids Station

PD&HS coordinated the fabrication and painting of four replica Pennsylvania Railroad station signs for St. Davids Station on SEPTA's Paoli-Thorndale Regional Rail line. Using an authentic sign rescued during the 1891 station's demolition in 1966 was used as a pattern to cast the four reproductions. The original signs are distinctive for their raised lettering with curved profiles, nearly impossible to replicate from scratch without an authentic example to be cast from. The reproductions were created in cast iron using a historically accurate sand casting process, then painted using colors that closely match the originals. SEPTA installed the reproductions on each side of the inbound and outbound platform shelters in 2020 and 2021.
