Located on the site of a former state hospital, the Haverford Reserve is an innovative municipal park project that provides an impressive variety of recreation opportunities to residents of Haverford Township. Behind the Reserve's new, state-of-the-art Community Recreation and Environmental Center (CREC) is a network of trails through pristine woodlands. A Pennsylvania Railroad right-of-way, known as the Newtown Square Branch, once ran through part of the Reserve property, making it the perfect place for both historical and environmental interpretive opportunities.
